INTEGRATION
The ICS INT functional module supports integration with various external systems. Integration includes the import and export of production data as well as direct communication with both upstream and downstream systems. Various interface methods are used depending on the capabilities of the system being integrated with. Methods used so far with the ICS include serial, TCP/IP, custom files, database and standard Microsoft Excel data files.
It sounds simple, and it really is for a system designed like the ICS.
Some basic technologies used by the ICS for integration include:
- SQL, ACCESS or ODBC compliant databases
- Network connections: TCP, UDP, raw ethernet and even IPX/SPX.
- Disk files, various custom formats in push, pull and manual intervention modes
- Excel spreadsheets
- Serial interfaces: RS232, RS422, etc.
- Parallel interfaces: PAMUX, 8255 driven, etc.
- Direct I/O: 24 volt, optical isolation, etc.
