MAILROOM CONTROL SYSTEM 500
The dispatching of papers to various locations is complex. Mailroom personnel must be able to make changes quickly due to weather conditions, mechanical problems, etc. To aid mailroom personnel, a Mailroom Control Unit (MCU) was developed in the mid 1970’s. The MCU controlled the stacker, Avery Labeler and the conveyor systems. A second generation MCU, called the Mailroom Control System (MCS), was developed. And now, MCS has been put into place. The Mailroom Control System still performs the same functions but utilizes newer technologies. The new MCS also incorporates many of the field requests that could not be incorporated into the older MCU because of the limited computing power. These changes include the support for different stackers as well as the newer inkjet system for the online addressing of papers. |
